
In Episode 4, titled ‘Final Selection’, Tanjiro Kamado faces the daunting test to enter the Demon Slayer Corps—the Final Selection. The episode opens with Tanjiro leaving his mentor Urokodaki and making his way to Fujikasane Mountain. There, he encounters several other hopefuls who, just like him, are vying to become Demon Slayers. Tension fills the air as the unconventional and mystical ambiance of the mountain is revealed. Known for its abundance of demons trapped there, the mountain tests the skills and resolve of every participant.
As the test commences, Tanjiro’s determination comes to the forefront. Armed with the skills taught to him by Urokodaki and guided by the spirits of the fallen students he met in his dreams, Tanjiro must survive seven days against the onslaught of demons living in the forest. During his struggle, Tanjiro encounters a particularly gruesome foe known as the Hand Demon. This demon has a history with Urokodaki and is responsible for the deaths of many of his students.
In an intense and harrowing battle, Tanjiro utilizes his water-breathing techniques to combat the demon. The clash tests his endurance, skill, and emotional resilience. Driven by the memory of his family and the spirits of Sakonji’s disciples, Tanjiro manages to defeat the formidable Hand Demon. As dawn breaks, Tanjiro stands among the few who survive the ordeal, earning his place in the Demon Slayer Corps.
